GIFT GUIDE: The Child Who Has Everything

November 24, 2020 · In: Celebrations, Children, Children, Everyday, Gift Guides, Gifting, Holidays

Margaret and Catherine are well loved and thoroughly spoiled. Though, as I told a friend of mine, I think spoiled is a state of mind! But however you slice it, they’re the only grandchildren and will be for a while, so they get lots of gifts from loving family and friends! And a lot of little ones we know are in this situation so I put some thought into gifts for the harder to buy for crowd. For the children who have everything here are some ideas!

  1. Reading Subscriptions

Margaret looks forward to her subscriptions each month and they make the perfect thing to throw in the car for reading on the go, or if we go out to eat I like to make sure these are in our diaper bag. Catherine loves the Hello version as well!

Some of our favorites include:

Highlights High Five Magazine: For ages 2-6

Highlights Magazine: Ages 6-12

Highlights Hello Magazine: For ages 0-2

Ranger Rick Magazine or National Geographic Kids   are perfect for the nature enthusiasts! Margaret has been getting these for the past two years and loves learning about new creatures!

ChopChop Family  – A quarterly family cooking magazines for families who like to get in the kitchen together and for kiddos who have a culinary interest!

  1. Subscription Boxes

KiwiCo – Monthly STEM boxes and other science + crafting based discovery kits!

Little Passports – Monthly boxes on selected subjects like travel and geography as well as science. Or gift an individual kit based on the little one’s favorite kind of activity!

LovEvery – Boxes for a baby starting at day one that meet them and challenge them where they are developmentally.

KidMadeModern – Monthly crafting kits starting at 3 or 6 month options.

Young, Wild + Friedman – Either a kit by itself or a subscription will be appreciated! Started by a mom looking to create more sensory play opportunities for her daughter who was experiencing a speech delay, these kits have an enthusiastic following for good reason!

  1. Memberships – These are some of the best gifts you can give and especially now, when so many of these places have been struggling amidst our shared challenge of navigating COVID, this is a gift that gives in so many ways.
  • Botanical Gardens
  • Zoo
  • Art Museum
  • Kids Museum
  1. Art Supplies  – I know kids that have everything probably have a lot of art supplies but since they’re consumable, I find kids (and parents) are always happy for a refresh!
  1. Bath Toys

For the younger crew, I think bath toys are always welcome! They sort of fall under that consumable category, at least in our house we get rid of them more quickly than other items. Here are some of our go-to favorites, many of which would make great stocking stuffers!

- loud chewing, smacking, slurping, hiccups, my personal hell
- immediately I'm panicked, was there an accident or did you see a roseate spoonbill in the yard, please give me context
- this will send me over the edge because what do you mean I'm already running late and overwhelmed but now I've ripped off my belt loop because I walked too close to the door frame and got caught

The opposite of a horror movie? Anything I wear from @francesvalentine like this embroidered caftan because they believe in beautifully made pieces and inclusive sizes which is why I've been a customer for years!
