As I opened up the box of new shoes for the girls, I couldn’t help but feel sentimental. So often back-to-school shopping can feel just like a punch list. Do they need mechanical pencils or regular pencils? Is their backpack from last year going to hold up? I happen to like all that, even the mundane supplies get this former teacher excited for the year to start. I showed the girls and predicted correctly that they’d squeal over the glittery detail on the back of their new sneakers, and upon trying on all the pairs they immediately started bubbling with excitement over getting back to school.
As much as I’m a little sad to be closing the chapter on Summer 2022, I’m so looking forward to seeing all that is in store for them this year. And I’m getting lost in the sweetness of moments like back-to-school shoe shopping!
