I am thrilled to announce the launch of Smocked Auctions x Grace Hamlin and Sarah Hunt Mommy and Me Cover-ups! It was absolutely a dream to partner with Smocked Auctions, as I have loved this brand since Margaret was a baby. And working with my friend Sarah Hunt was the icing on the cake! Living in Florida, helping to design a cover-up just felt “right” and I love how it turned out. If you are a fan of all things pink and block print and live for a matching moment, keep reading! Smocked Auctions Clothing
Before jumping into the collaboration, I wanted to share a bit more about this wonderful brand. Smocked Auctions was founded by two women, Amy and Nicole, in 2010, shortly after they became mothers. They were passionate about finding children’s clothing that was classic and high-quality, but also affordable. When they weren’t able to find clothing pieces that fit all of these categories, they decided to open their own store.
Since then, Smocked Auctions has become well-known and deeply loved by parents all over the country. They have been featured on CNN and in Southern Living magazine, as well as other prominent news outlets. Female-founded businesses like this are so inspiring and it was such an honor to work with them on this collaboration!
Why I Love Smocked Auctions
Not only do I admire Smocked Auctions because of all they have achieved, but also because their clothing is so darn cute! I’ve been shopping this brand since before Margaret was even born and many of my friends shop there as well. They have tons of beautiful designs that include sweet appliques and smocking (which you know I can’t resist). And they’re able to create it all at price points that don’t break the bank. As a parent, I truly appreciate finding classic children’s clothing that is affordable because kids grow out of pieces so quickly! We especially love this brand’s holiday collections in the Hamlin household. My girls have worn Smocked Auctions clothing on Halloween, Christmas, and the first day of school!
Smocked Auctions Mommy and Me Cover-Ups
With all that being said, I couldn’t have been more excited to collaborate with Smocked Auctions and Sarah Hunt on these matching cover-ups! With warm temps year-round here in Florida, swim cover-ups are a top priority in our wardrobe – A girl can never have too many! Not only do I love how these turned out, but Margaret and Catherine do as well! We’re big fans of the pink-on-pink design, with sweet hearts nestled right into the block print style motif. And the easy fit is perfect for adventures by the water, allowing for lots of movement while staying comfortable. It honestly seems to get softer with each wear!
Your Questions, Answered
When I shared about this Smocked Auctions collaboration on my Instagram, I received a few questions. I thought it would be useful to address them here in hopes that it might help others as well!
In what sizes are these mommy and me cover-ups available?
The women’s caftan comes in 3 size options: S-M, M-L, L-XL, fitting up to a size 22. The matching girl’s cover-ups are available from 12 months to 12 years. I’ve found them to fit very TTS.
What is the price of these Smocked Auctions pieces?
The girl’s cover-up is $29.99 and the women’s caftan cover-up is $38.99.
Are they machine-washable?
Yes! These matching cover-ups are incredibly soft and they wash up like a dream. I am always disappointed when I wash something and it results in a stiff, uncomfortable material. That is not the case with these!
How was the print designed?
Smocked Auctions designed this beautiful print and Sarah Hunt and I helped by giving our input on the styling, shape, sizes, etc. It was such a fun process!
What swimsuits would you recommend pairing with these cover-ups?
I paired the Smocked Auctions caftan with this hot pink swimsuit (my friend Sabrina Chazen helped design this swimsuit and the fit is amazing!) Can I wear the women’s caftan casually (rather than as a cover-up)?
Yes – just pair it with a slip underneath! I love the versatility of this piece. The caftan would be perfect for a casual summer gathering with friends or a day shopping with your own mom! This women’s slip is a favorite of mine.
Photoshoot Day
Not only was the planning and preparation for this collaboration incredibly fun, but the day we shot the photos was so special as well! Our friend and photographer, Jessie Roffer, joined us for a girls’ night out as we celebrated our caftans. We took them for a test run at one of our favorite dinner spots, Paul’s Landing, which has a sunset view of the marina. They serve upscale food in a relaxed atmosphere and as you can see, has a great big green space for kids to run around!
The restaurant is located at The Vinoy Resort and Golf Club, which is the most beautiful historic hotel. This hotel just completed extensive renovations and is now open once again and better than ever! It is an Autograph Collection property, for all my fellow Marriott/Bonvoy points mavens! I love the perfect pink elegance and the convenient location. It’s right on the waterfront and walkable to shops, restaurants, and The Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. Plus, the pool has a big waterfall that is as perfect for playing mermaids now as it was when my family and I would have staycations there when I was a little girl!
